Brief and Scenario
Imagine that you have been hired as an intern by a UK hotel chain with three to five stars in the international hospitality sector.
Your line manager has asked you to lead the induction of new employees as part of a new Staff Development Program. This will begin with a presentation for the new team members joining the hotel. Your job is to make sure that every employee knows what's going on in the hospitality industry at the beginning of their shift. This will ensure that the company has employees who are well-trained and knowledgeable about the industry and have the skills needed to succeed in the fast-paced, ever-changing hospitality industry.
For this report you are required to take Hilton Hotel & Resort as an organization.
Activity 1: The first thing you need to do is give a presentation about your research and what you found.
(You should also be ready to respond to any subsequent inquiries.)

The content ought to provide an overview of the hospitality industry, if not insight into it;
and a few examples include:
- An examination of the various operational and functional departments within a large hospitality organization;
- An investigation of the various hospitality sectors and the many different kinds of businesses that operate within them, as well as the variety of products and services they provide.
- Examining at least 4-6 distinct employment roles that can be found in operational departments of hospitality organizations, providing an organizational diagram to explain the interrelationships between the various departments
- Evaluating how the hospitality industry contributes to the local, national, and global economy and the skills that are needed for these jobs: a look at the gaps and shortages in skills for a variety of operational jobs.
You should include; if you want to elevate your presentation to the next level.
- A look at how the hospitality industry's growth and overall economic worth have been affected by globalization and the use of licensing and franchising agreements.
- A look at how the hospitality industry is being impacted by skill gaps like the ones you've identified and how they can address these issues.
Activity 2: Preparing a business report for use at the following staff meeting is the next step in your new Staff Development Program.
You are informed that the following should at the very least be included in the Business Report: -
- A PESTLE analysis, in which you evaluate the political, economic, social, technological, legislative, and environmental factors that influence the growth of hospitality industry organizations as a whole;
- A hotel chain's SWOT analysis, which stands for strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats; including a discussion of the ways in which this can affect the decision-making process;
- A trend analysis, in which you identify both existing and upcoming trends in the hospitality sector as a whole; considering their repercussions; and providing a variety of specific examples, as well as an assessment of the hotel chain you are working for capacity to create products and services that are in line with current trends.
You are instructed to include a critical evaluation of how the external factors you have identified impact on current and potential trends and developments in the hospitality industry as well as how the industry has developed in response, using specific examples, in your Business Report.
